Fibreglass Pool Ideas Orewa
Fibreglass pool ideas for Orewa — one-piece shells, built in New Zealand.

Fibreglass pools made in New Zealand, installed on site by the local installer who covers the Auckland region. Below is how it works for Orewa, what changes the price, and the questions people ask before they commit.
At a glance
Sizes are quoted as internal, water-line measurements — an 8 x 4 is 8 x 4 of water. Depth is the shell height, and capacity is measured to the top of the shell.
The photo up top
What to look at in a pool photo
That is a finished Bayside pool, and it is the best way we can show you what one looks like in a yard — it is not a photo of a section in Orewa. Look at how much room the pool takes out of the space around it, where the water line sits when you look out from the house, and what the yard looks like once the paving and planting are done. For an in-ground fibreglass pool in Orewa, those three decide it.
- The real size of the thing A pool looks smaller on paper than it does in a section. Use the picture to judge the length you want against the space you have — the difference between a 6.5 m and a 9 m swimming pool is obvious in a photograph and invisible in a spec sheet.
- One piece of water Every Bayside shell is moulded as a single piece before it leaves Whakatāne, so the pool arrives complete and the water line is continuous. Nothing is built up on site out of panels or a liner.
- The finishing decisions The pool is the start of the job, not the end of it. Fencing, paving or decking, and the planting around it, are what you notice in a picture of a finished yard — and they are worth deciding while the section is still open ground.
Want to see one in the ground rather than a photo of one? Scape installs right across Auckland — give them a call and ask. Every shell they set was moulded in our own factory first.
Who you are dealing with
Who turns up in Orewa, and how long they have been doing it
Orewa is inside the Auckland region patch that Tim, at Scape, installs for, and it is worth being straight about what that means at this stage. Tim is a newer pool installer: the pools completed in the region so far are a few rather than a long list, and Orewa is an area he has come into rather than one he already has a long history in.
What he is not new to
Scape is an established Auckland landscape construction business. Earthworks, levels, retaining, drainage, paving, decking and fencing are its everyday work with its own crews, and a fibreglass pool install is mostly those jobs with a shell in the middle.
The sections here are tight
Tight sections are the normal case across this region, and that is what decides the job: what fits, how the digger and the shell get in, and how much yard is left over for the surround and the fence.
The report that goes with the consent
When a pool goes into the ground, the application to the council carries a geotechnical report on your ground. Tim gathers it as part of the job, and the base is designed against what it says.
If you would rather deal with an installer who already has a long local list, tell us and we will point you at one. If you are weighing it up the other way, ask Tim about your section. The assessment and the quote cost you nothing, and the answer will be about your ground rather than about Orewa in general.
What suits Orewa
How to choose a swimming pool for an Orewa section
Start with your own section, not with a brochure. The four points below are the ones that decide which fibreglass pool model makes sense at your place.
Space on the section
Get a tape on the site before you pick a pool. The pool footprint plus the surround plus somewhere to walk is the number that matters, and it always beats the picture in your head.
How you will use it
How the pool gets used decides its length and its depth. Laps want length; a plunge pool wants to be simple and cheap to run; a family pool generally wants both shallow and deep ends.
Getting it in
Where the shell can physically get in matters as much as where it looks best. That is a site assessment question, and it is the one worth having before anything is ordered.
Around the pool
What goes around the pool is a separate purchase and usually a later one. Copings, the surround, fencing and landscaping are worth planning at the same time as the pool even when they are bought later.
Plain English
In-ground (or inground) pool, or fibreglass pool? The Orewa answer
Worth two minutes, because swimming pool, in-ground pool and fibreglass pool carry slightly different promises.
In-ground pool
A pool set into the ground rather than standing above it. Every Bayside shell is designed to go in the ground, so an in-ground pool is the normal case rather than an upgrade. Where digging is not wanted, there is also a Freestanding option in the range — still a Bayside shell, sitting above ground.
Fibreglass pool
Fibreglass means the pool body is a one-piece moulded shell, made in our Whakatāne factory and delivered complete. On site the work is preparing the base, placing and setting the shell, then everything around it — rather than building the pool body itself on site.
Swimming pool
The widest of the three, and the one people type most. It covers a small plunge pool through to a 12 m family and lap pool — the difference being length, depth and how much of the section they take up.
On the numbers: the size you are quoted is the water-line size, not the outside of the shell. An 8 x 4 pool gives you 8 x 4 of water. Depth is the height of the shell, and volume is measured to the top of the shell. That is true of every inground pool we build, whatever spelling you searched.
Sizes
Fibreglass pool sizes for an Orewa section
The smallest swimming pool shell in the fibreglass range is the 3.6 x 2.2 m Tranquil; the largest is the 12 x 4.4 m Big Bertha, with the 4 x 2.4 m Pause, 5.45 x 3.4 m Element, 6.5 x 3 m Retreat, 7 x 3.5 m Cove, 8 x 4 m Satin, 9 x 4.4 m Shoreline and 10 x 4.4 m Coastline in between. Ten models in all, all made in Whakatāne. Worth knowing before you measure: the dimensions are internal, water-line sizes — an 8 x 4 is 8 x 4 — while the shell itself takes a little more room than that, and the depth is the shell height.
How it goes in
How an Orewa pool goes in, step by step
What people want from a pool company is a straight answer about what happens when. Here it is.
- Site assessment — your section is looked at before anything is dug: where the pool can go, how the machines reach the hole, where the shell can be placed.
- Design and quote — the model and size that fit, and a written price. Get the quote in writing and itemised, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
- Manufacture — the shell is moulded in Whakatāne, in New Zealand, under our own roof.
- Excavation and base — the hole is dug, the base is prepared properly, and the shell is set by the same team that quoted the job.
- Fill and commission — water goes in, the filtration and pump are commissioned, and the pool is running.
- Handover — you get the pool handbook, which sets out how to look after the shell.
The fast part is the dig and the shell going in. The slow part is the water, the surrounds and the fence — plan for that, not for the dig.
After handover

Once the pool is in, the job is mostly the water. Balanced water and sensible use of the equipment is what keeps the surface and the gear healthy, and the maintenance page covers the routine.

Questions
Fibreglass pool FAQs for Orewa
Are in-ground pools in Orewa expensive?
It depends on the model, the size, how easily the shell reaches your section, and what you put around the pool — those four things move the number more than anything else. We do not quote a figure without seeing the site, because a wrong number wastes your time and ours. The pool cost guide carries the bands our own written quotes run across; your installer writes the actual price for your section. Send us your section and you will get a written quote for it.
How big a pool fits in Orewa?
That is a question about your section, not about Orewa in general — the clear space is what decides it. The fibreglass swimming pool range starts at the 3.6 x 2.2 m Tranquil plunge pool and runs to the 12 x 4.4 m Big Bertha, with ten models in between. A tight section usually ends up at a plunge or compact model; a section with room usually takes a 7 to 8 metre family pool. Worth remembering that our sizes are internal, water-line measurements, so an 8 x 4 pool gives you 8 x 4 of water, and the shell needs a little more space than that.
What consents does a pool need in Orewa?
Pool fencing is the part that is not optional. It has to comply with the building code, and it is checked — that applies to any pool in Orewa, whether the pool itself needed a consent or not. For the install itself, a geotechnical report on your ground is gathered to go in with the application to the council. Depending on the section, a resource or building consent may also come into it. We work through that as part of the job rather than leaving you to work it out, and the fencing sits outside the pool price, so ask for it to be shown on the quote.
How long does a pool installation take?
The excavation and the shell placement are the quick part — usually a few days once the team is on site. What takes the time is what comes after: filling, surrounds, fencing and getting the water balanced. You get a realistic sequence up front rather than just the fast part, so you can plan the garden and the fencing around it.
Which Bayside model should I look at first?
It follows the sections rather than the postcode. Where space is tight, the plunge and compact models win — the Tranquil, the Pause and the Element. Where there is room, a 7 to 8 metre family pool is the usual pick, which is the Retreat, the Cove or the Satin. The whole range with its dimensions is on the pool range page if you want to see the sizes side by side before you ring anyone.
Who installs a Bayside pool in Orewa?
We manufacture, and a licensed local pool builder and installer puts the pool in. For this region that is Scape, covering the Auckland region. Every Bayside shell is moulded in our Whakatāne factory and installed on site by the installer who covers your area, and the person who quotes your job is the person on your site when it goes in.
Is a fibreglass pool an in-ground pool?
Yes — a Bayside shell is designed to be set into the ground, so an in-ground pool is the standard case rather than a special order. The range also includes a Freestanding option for a section where digging is not wanted; it is the same shell family, sitting above ground.
How does a fibreglass shell compare with other pool types?
The shell arrives as one finished piece rather than being built up on site, so the on-site work is preparing the base, placing and setting it, and everything around the water. That is also why the surface matters so much: ours is ChlorShield, the gelcoat system on every Bayside shell, and the ChlorShield page sets out what it is built to do. We will talk about any pool type with you — we just sell the one we manufacture.
What colours do fibreglass pools come in?
There is a full palette on the pool colours page, shown on real pools rather than as swatches on a screen — which is the only honest way to choose one. You can also ask to see the colour in person before the shell is ordered.
Has Tim installed many pools in Orewa?
Not many yet, and that is worth saying rather than dressing up. He is a newer pool installer, and the pools completed in the region so far are a few rather than a long list. The rest of the work is not new to him: the crews build outdoor spaces around Auckland as their normal work, and the geotechnical report, the base, the levels and the paving around a pool are their everyday jobs.
