Bayside Pools Auckland
Tim — Scape Ltd, landscape construction across Auckland

Bayside Pools Auckland is run by Tim of Scape Ltd, an Auckland landscape construction company that works from concept drawings through to finished outdoor spaces. Scape does the earthworks, retaining, paving, decking, planting and fencing — which is very close to the full list of things a pool install needs. Because Tim runs the groundworks himself, the site is planned and prepared properly before anything is dug, so the pool goes in cleanly on sloping, tight or tricky Auckland sections.
Areas we serve
Where Tim installs
The Auckland region — Auckland City and the isthmus, the North Shore, Howick and the east, out west, and north to Orewa. Auckland is the hardest place in the country to get a pool into a backyard, and that is exactly why the earthworks matter so much here.

On the ground here
Tight sections, tight access, and the report that goes in with the consent
Nearly every pool in this region is a tight-section job. Backyards here are often boundary to boundary, with the house on one side and a fence on the other, and that settles the shape of the work: which model is realistic, how a digger and a one-piece shell reach the hole, and how much room is left for the surround once the pool is in.
When a pool goes into the ground, the application to the council carries a geotechnical report on the section. Tim gathers that as part of the job, and the base is designed against what the report says about the ground underneath. It is the part of a pool install that is invisible once the water is in, and it is the part that decides whether the shell sits true.
Tim’s trade is groundworks, and groundworks is the bulk of a pool install. Scape digs, retains, paves and fences around Auckland as its normal work, with its own crews — so the excavation, the base, the retaining and the paving around the pool all come from the same team, and Tim runs that work himself. The shell is the part you can see; how it was dug, levelled and bedded is what keeps it sitting true.
About your installer
The people who build the backyard, installing the pool in it
Scape Ltd is an Auckland landscape and garden specialist working across residential and commercial properties, from large-scale developments through to one-off city sections. They take a property from the initial concept drawings through construction to ongoing maintenance, and they do it with their own crews rather than a chain of subcontractors.
That matters for a pool, because a fibreglass pool install is mostly an earthmoving and construction job. You dig a hole to a precise depth in ground that is rarely predictable, build a base that will not settle, hold levels against the house, deal with retaining and drainage, place something very heavy, then finish around it. Those are the same jobs Scape does every week — just with a pool at the end instead of a lawn.
Auckland throws up its own ground too: volcanic basalt and scoria in places, heavy clay in others, and no two suburbs behaving the same way. Getting the base design right for the ground you actually have is the difference between a pool that sits true for decades and one that does not.

How it works
Your Auckland install, step by step
The sequence below is the shape of the job. Your quote will carry the real dates for your property.

1. Site assessment and access plan
The most important visit. How a digger and a shell physically get into your yard, where the services run, how the levels work and where the pool can sit. Auckland access decides more than anything else.

2. Excavation, retaining and base
The hole is dug to the correct depth, the ground is assessed as it opens up, and the base is built to carry the shell properly for the ground you actually have. Retaining is sorted while the ground is open.

3. Shell delivery and set
The shell arrives from the factory and is placed and levelled. On a tight Auckland section this is a planned operation, not a hopeful one.

4. Backfill, paving and handover
The pool is backfilled and braced while it fills, equipment is connected and tested, water is balanced, and the paving and planting around it are finished by the same team.
Why choose
Why Tim
Most pool installs end with a shell in a hole and a promise that someone will come back for the landscaping. Scape is a landscape construction company, so the bit after the pool is their day job.
- One crew from the dig to the finished paving
- Access and logistics solved at quoting stage, not on the day
- Retaining, drainage, levels and finishes treated as one job
- Comfortable saying what is and is not achievable on your section
- Manufactured in New Zealand, installed with care

The whole backyard
Everything around the pool as well
The hard part of a pool project is rarely the pool. It is the levels, the retaining, the paving, the planting and the fence line. Scape does all of it, so you are not coordinating four trades on a city section.
Retaining walls
Auckland sections are full of levels that need holding back, and a pool often sits right beside one. Structural retaining built by the same team.
Concrete, paving & driveways
Pool surrounds, paths and driveways on Auckland’s tight sections — including the access a digger and a truck have to use.
Timber decking
Decks are where most people end up sitting. Built to step down to the pool safely and handle the weather.
Fences & gates
Privacy, boundary and pool barrier work — practical on a section where the neighbour is close.
Garden & landscape design
Concept drawings for how the pool, the planting and the hard surfaces fit together on your site.
Planting, lawn & turf
The finish that makes it look like it has always been there, plus artificial turf where a real lawn will not cope.
Track record

CommercialThey come back
Ongoing garden and landscape maintenance means the same company stays involved after the build.
OngoingQuestions
Auckland fibreglass pool questions
The questions Auckland buyers ask us most, answered plainly.
Can you get a pool into a tight Auckland section?
Usually, yes — that is the normal case here rather than the exception. It comes down to the width of the access, what is overhead, what the ground will carry and how far the shell has to travel. Tim will look at your property and tell you honestly what is possible before you commit to anything.
How much does a pool cost in Auckland?
We do not publish prices, because access and ground conditions move the number more than the pool model does. What we do is visit, assess the site properly, and give you a written quote with the job broken down so you can see where the money is going.
Do I need a building consent?
The pool itself is generally exempt work if it is under the 35,000 litre threshold, but your pool fencing will almost certainly need a building consent. Rules vary with the site, so have your installer check your specific property. Auckland Council is strict on pool barriers.
Who does the landscaping and paving afterwards?
The same company. Scape does retaining walls, concrete and paving, decking, fences and gates, planting and lawns as normal work, so the surrounds of the pool are done by the crew that prepared the ground for it.
What is the ground like in Auckland, and does it matter?
It matters a lot. Auckland has volcanic basalt and scoria fields, heavy clay, and softer filled ground in older suburbs, often within a few streets of each other. Each behaves differently when you dig and each needs a different base treatment. This is a big part of why the installer’s groundworks background matters.
Which pool model suits a small Auckland yard?
The compact end of the range is designed for exactly this. Tranquil, Pause and Plunge are built for small yards and narrow access, and Element gives you a proper family pool in a footprint many people assume is too small. Send us your measurements and we will tell you what fits.
Do you install on the North Shore and out west?
Yes. Auckland City, North Auckland and West Auckland are all covered, along with the surrounding suburbs.
Can the pool be worked into a bigger landscaping plan?
That is the ideal way to do it. If the backyard is being reworked anyway, the pool, the retaining, the paving and the planting can all be designed together rather than the pool going in first and everything else being fitted around it.
Can I see a finished Bayside pool before deciding?
Yes, ask us. Seeing a pool in the ground on a section like yours is worth more than any brochure.
