Cambridge Pools — design, earthworks and install under one roof

Cambridge Pools Ltd is a locally owned Waikato business specialising in fibreglass pool design, build and installation. They also do the site preparation, earthworks and land clearing that make a section ready, which means the ground and the pool are planned together rather than by two different companies who never speak.
Areas we serve
Where Cambridge Pools installs
Cambridge, Hamilton and the wider Waikato. Because they handle earthworks themselves, they are comfortable on the larger lifestyle sections and the awkward sites around the region as well as town properties.

About your installer
The people who dig it are the people who set it
Most pool installs involve at least three parties: whoever sells the shell, whoever digs the hole, and whoever finishes around it. When one of them gets the levels wrong, everybody points at everybody else. Cambridge Pools does the design, the site preparation, the earthworks and the installation, so the same team owns the whole result.
Their site preparation work is not a sideline — it is a service they offer in its own right for people building in the Waikato. Land clearing, earthworks and getting a section to the point where a pool can be built on it are everyday jobs for them.
They also finish the pool with a protective treatment that helps the surface hold its colour and finish, and they can match a custom colour if you want something other than the standard range.
- Design, earthworks, installation and finishing in one company
- Site preparation and land clearing as a standalone service
- Used to Waikato lifestyle blocks as well as town sections
- Custom colour options and protective pool finishing
- New Zealand-made Bayside shells with a 20-year structural warranty

How it works
From design to swimming
The order below is how a Waikato install runs. Your quote will have the actual sequence and dates for your section.

1. Design and placement
Where the pool goes, how big it can be, where the sun is, where the access is. Getting this right on paper saves money on site.

2. Site preparation and earthworks
Land cleared, levels cut, the hole dug to the right depth and a base prepared to carry the shell. This is their home ground, literally.

3. Shell delivery and set
Your shell arrives from the factory, is placed, levelled and checked against the plan. Plumbing and the equipment set go in.

4. Finish, fill and handover
Backfill, protective finish, filling, water balancing and a full systems check. Then a proper walkthrough so you know how to run it.
Why choose
Why Cambridge Pools
A Waikato section can throw up anything — clay, rock, a slope, a shed that has to move, or a driveway too soft for a truck. It helps when the person quoting you is also the person who has to solve it.
- No gap between the pool company and the earthworks crew
- Experienced with tricky access — they will tell you honestly what can be done
- They clean up after the install as part of the job
- Practical about what a section can and cannot take
- One point of contact from first visit to handover

More than pools
What else they do on your section
If the ground around the pool needs work anyway, it makes sense to have the same crew do it while they are there.
Site preparation
Getting a section ready to build on — levels, cuts, fill and the ground work that precedes everything else.
Land clearing
Clearing vegetation and tidying a site so there is somewhere to work and something to build on.
Pool design
Working out the right model and position for your property rather than selling you the biggest one that fits.
Protective pool treatment
A protective finish applied to the pool surface to help it hold up over time.
Custom colours
If the standard water colours are not what you want, a custom colour can be done.
Cambridge and Hamilton
Based in Cambridge, working across Hamilton and the wider Waikato.

Whole jobQuestions
Waikato fibreglass pool questions
The questions Cambridge Pools get asked most, answered plainly.
I have a tricky site. How will you access it?
That is the right question to ask first, because access decides what is possible. It depends on the width of the entrance, overhead lines, the ground’s load-bearing capacity and how far the shell has to travel from the road. Cambridge Pools will look at it properly and tell you what can and cannot be done rather than finding out on the day.
Do you clean up after the pool installation?
Yes. Cleaning up the site is part of finishing the job. You should be left with a usable backyard, not a building site.
How much does a swimming pool cost?
We do not publish prices. The honest answer depends on the model, the access, the amount of earthwork your section needs and how much landscaping you want around the pool. A site visit gives you a real number instead of a guess.
What ground do you find in the Waikato?
The Waikato varies a lot — heavy clay in places, volcanic soils and rock in others, and peat or soft ground on some blocks. Each needs different handling. Because Cambridge Pools does the earthworks as well, whatever turns up is their problem to solve, not a surprise invoice.
Do I need consent for a fibreglass pool?
Generally the pool itself is exempt if it is under the 35,000 litre threshold, but the fencing around it usually needs consent. Larger pools and certain sites need more. Your installer will tell you exactly where your pool sits and handle it with you.
How long does the installation take?
The physical install is quick by pool standards — the shell set is usually a single day once the base is ready. Allow a few weeks for the whole job including earthworks and finishing, with the ground and access being the main variables.
Can I choose a different water colour?
Yes. The standard range covers the usual blues and greys, and custom colours are available if you want something specific. Worth discussing at the design stage so it is right.
Do you install on lifestyle blocks?
Yes. Larger sections are normal work for them, and having the earthworks crew in house helps on a block where services, levels and access all need sorting.
How do I get a quote?
Send us where the pool is going and what you have in mind. We will pass it to Cambridge Pools, they will arrange a site visit, and you will get a proper written quote.
